Attention
This tuning was created quickly to resolve issues with extreme motion. The motion profile will be updated soon. ETA early 2022.
Below is a preliminary motion profile for Elite Dangerous which includes a spaceship and SRV tuning.
Multiple Tunings for Elite Dangerous
Unfortunately, Elite Dangerous does not export the name of the spacecraft in telemetry. This makes it impossible for SimRacingStudio to automatically load different tunings for different spacecraft. However, utilizing the ability for SRS to import/export tunings, a user can create multiple tunings for Elite Dangerous by following the process here.
Manually Updating the XML File with New Memory Pointers
Whenever Elite Dangerous is updated by Frontier, there is a possibility motion will be broken. This is due to Frontier not officially supporting the export of telemetry for motion (Please request Frontier to add support via this thread here or contact them directly). Typically, the ED community will provide updated pointers that Sim Racing Studio must update for motion to work again. However, if there is a delay and you want to update them manually yourself, there is a field in the config.ini for SRS that you can switch to disable the auto-update so you can manually update the XML file: 1) Go to Documents > Sim Racing Studio 2.0 folder 2) Open the config.ini file 3) Locate the following line: check_ed_updates = yes 4) Set it to check_ed_updates = no 5) Save and close the config.ini file
6) Replace the "EliteDangerous64_Offsets.xml" or "EliteDangerousOdyssey64_Offsets.xml" with the updated file.
Note: You will now always need to manually update the file when the pointers are updated. Change the setting back to "yes" and SRS will resume automatically updating the file once available.
Platform Tuning
This motion profile was created on a PT Actuator 6DOF Simracing Platform (150mm: 7 Actuators (2 Front + 2 Rear + 2 TL + Surge). Since all motion platforms can be slightly different, please use the guidance below or utilize the quick tuning guide here for quick adjustments or the full guide here for detailed tuning information.
4 Vertical Actuator Tuning
Sway and Surge is converted into pitch or roll for platforms that do not have horizontal actuators. Since these motion profiles were created on a platform with horizontal actuators, the tuning(s) could result in excessive pitch or roll on platforms without horizontal actuators. IMPORTANT: For an axis that does not have a dedicated horizontal actuator, it might be necessary to reduce the Effect Slider for Lat G Sway, Long G Surge Accel and Long G Surge Decel by 60% to mitigate excessive movement. For example:
If no Sway actuators, reduce the Sway Effect Slider from 10 to 4.
If no Surge actuator, reduce the Long G Surge Accel/Decel Effect Slider from 15 to 6.
Actuator Size and Mounting
These motion profiles were created on a platform with 150mm actuators with the Front to Rear Vertical Actuator spacing at 1290mm and the Left to Right Vertical Actuator spacing at 745mm. Actuators placed closer together or are larger than 150mm will increase the angle of pitch and roll. To mitigate the increase of motion if needed, reduce the Effect Slider for the impacted effects or reduce the Max Angle.
MDBOX Tuning
Due to built in smoothing effects for MDBOX, it may be necessary to reduce the Effect Smoothing by 50%. Surge, Sway, and Traction Loss may require Effect Smoothing to be removed completely.
Max Angle
These motion profiles have balanced to allow for the increase of Max Angle and Max Horizontal to 100 (unless noted otherwise) to allow for the maximum movement capabilities of the vertical actuators. However, if less motion is desired, reduction of the Max Angle will reduce overall motion while still retaining the balanced effects.
Reverse Surge
These motion profiles were created with the surge actuator reversed. This will cause the platform to move forward when accelerating and backwards when decelerating. To reverse the surge actuator, please follow the tutorial here.

Elite Dangerous Spaceship Tuning
Notes: All Max Telemetries adjusted based on new telemetry data. Yaw Effect Smoothing increased to mitigate jarring motion during extreme flight. Pitch and Roll balanced based on telemetry increases when using Boost.
Elite Dangerous SRV Tuning
Notes: Max Telemetry for Pitch and Roll increased based on new data. Max Angle and Horizontal reduced to 90 to mitigate excessive movement on extreme terrain. Effect Smoothing adjusted based on motion capabilities of the SRV.
Hi Jeff I have recently lost motion with Elite Odyssey. I am running the latest updates on both Elite and SRS however things had still been working after those had been updated some weeks ago so not sure its that. All other games are working perfectly so really at a loss. Appreciate any assistance if you can.
